Massachusetts Apple Month

Did you know that September is officially Apple Month in Massachusetts ?

This morning began with an exciting visit from our State Representative James Kelcourse and Assistant Comissioner of Agriculture Jason Wentworth to present us with a citation from Govenor Charles Baker in declaration of Apple Month!

Here are some fun facts about apples in Massachusetts:

  • More than 28 million pounds of apples are produced each year and roughly $20 million in sales are generated annually for the Massachusetts economy.

  • Over 140 varieties of apples are grown in Massachusetts.

  • Apple growers in the Commonwealth participate in a wide variety of conservation efforts and renewable energy projects that advance the protection of the environment.

  • Apple orchards preserve open spaces and provide families with educational opportunities to learn about apple production and engage in treasured activities such as apple picking.

It definitely does feel like apple month here at the farm. We are in full swing with our weekend fall fun featuring hayrides, fresh popped kettlecorn, pumpkins galore and more! We have apple picking available everyday and also offer school tours (for school tour information click here).
